But remember, it’s not just about the next Instagram post. It’s about capturing a moment in time, creating a treasured memory, immortalizing that perfect smile, laugh, or face of a loved one. So get snapping and explore Spokane. Have a beautiful meal, celebrate it’s wild and wonderful nature, and archive the moments of your life forever on your Instagram page.

  1. Spokane Falls/Monroe Street Bridge (218 N Monroe St, Spokane WA)

The Spokane Falls refer to the waterfall and dam on the Spokane River, located in the central business district in downtown Spokane. During spring, the rapids are raging with snow run-off and you’ll be amazed as you see the many falls dissenting along the river. In my opinion, the best view of the falls is right around the Monroe Street Bridge.  This is the spot to view the falls up close and personal (on the East side of the bridge, or at a distance with more scenery on the West side of the bridge). This is a prime spot to grab some photos of the falls, the Monroe bridge, or use the scenery as a backdrop for photos with friends or loved ones.

  1. Manito Park (1702 S Grand Blvd Spokane, WA)

Manito Park is a public park located on the South Hill with five unique gardens, a greenhouse conservatory and a duck pond. The space spans about 90 acres and includes vast amount of flowers, beautiful kept grounds, exercise paths, picnic areas, and more. Manito Park definitely makes for some of the most stunning pictures for friends, floral and fauna.

  1. Bing Crosby Theater (901 W Sprague Ave Spokane, WA)

The Bing Crosby Theater was originally built in 1914 as an 800 silent film movie house, and has been transformed into a performing arts theater hosting many well-known names throughout the year. Snap a picture in front of their infamous marquee then step inside for a show!

4. Chaps Coffee Co (4237 Cheney Spokane Rd 99224 // 509.624.4182)

Chaps is a “brunchers” paradise. They have a massive, outdoor front-patio with numbered tables. Order inside, you are assigned a table, whether indoor or outdoor, then your food and drinks are brought to your assigned table. It’s very efficient and no one had to wait for a table, even though it was packed.

They interior is rustic, chic and always offers a new, pleasant surprise around every corner. Their big chalkboard art out front is an #Instagrammers dream.

5. Boots Bakery & Lounge (24 W. Main Ave. Spokane, WA // 509.703.7223)

Boots Bakery and Lounge is known for their bright blue exterior and rustic vibes. Grab a cup of coffee and start shooting. There is beauty all around the interior and exterior.

Their menu selection changes daily based on ingredients that are brought to them from local farmers and they serve, hands down, the tastiest no-bake cookie I have EVER had. They are chilled and moist with nuts and dried fruit. So. Dang. Good. Stay and chill on your computer, chat with other locals, or nestle into a chair and read a book. You’ll fit right in.

6. Garland Neighborhood

  • Mary Lou’s Milk Bottle (802 W Garland Ave Spokane, WA // 509.325.1772) When the restaurant has a literal milk bottle constructed into the exterior, you can’t resist stopping in to have a milkshake. Oreo is my preference. They only take cash or check. We always order one milkshake and ask them to split it. It fits perfectly in two glasses and it’s just the right size to leave you room for a burger and fries. They have a great lunch special where you can get a burger, side, and shake for $8.50.
  • Ferguson’s Cafe (804 W Garland Ave Spokane, WA // 509.328.1950) Ferguson’s Fountain Cafe is your classic diner. They serve combo breakfast dishes, milkshakes, chicken fried steak, burgers, etc. Basically, don’t go to Ferguson’s expecting a light salad or healthy dish. Go for a greasy, traditional breakfast plate and grab a picture out front under their light-up sign.
  • Garland Graffiti Walls. They have been hard at work trying to restore the image and reputation on Garland. It is happening slowly, but surely. You can still find fun graffiti walls scattered along the street for a fun, artistic selfie.
  • Garland Theater (924 W Garland Ave, Spokane, WA // 509.327.2509) The Garland Theater is a Spokane landmark. It is the biggest theater in the city featuring 500 seats. It is the first discount theater in Spokane and you can get a ticket for only $5. They also sell bottomless popcorn for $7. This a great bargain date night! They recently redid their marquee sign out front to make it even more “instagrammable”. Ok, they didn’t do it for Instagram purposes, but all the phone-obessed “Milennials” can use it for that. Are we really as obsessed with our phones as THEY say we are? Maybe…

7. Riverfront Park

All of the most iconic Spokane pieces are located around Riverfront Park. It starts with the clock tower, then the giant wagon, life-size building blocks, world fair tent, and you can’t forget the garbage-eating goat. All of these Spokane staples are conveniently located right along the river for an extra scenic photo opt. Soon enough, Riverfront Park will also be the home to a brand new ice rink. The ice rink will loop around the park and create an even more perfect winter experience around Downtown Spokane.

8. Avista Stadium (602 N. Havana St Spokane, WA // 509.535.2922)

Home of the Spokane Indians, Avista Stadium is a great place to spend an evening or afternoon during the summer months when the weather warms up then brings us those cool Summer nights. Enjoy a low-key baseball game with hot dogs, fun entertainment, and Cracker Jacks. A baseball game isn’t really a baseball game without Cracker Jacks and their secret surprise. The Spokane Indians are a minor league baseball team whose season goes from June to very early September.  They play Northwest regional minor league teams and feed into the Texas Rangers.

9. Greenbluff Farms (Siemers Farm 11125 E Day Mt Spokane Rd, Mead WA)

Greenbluff is full of free activities year round! Throughout the year you pick your own cherries, berries, apples, peaches, rhubarb, squash, pumpkins, even Christmas Trees! Each farm is independently owned so check with each for their individual hours and supply. Festivals take place on designated weekends. October at Greenbluff is my favorite time of year because you can pick your pumpkin, buy fresh, hot pumpkin donuts, and join in the other Fall festivities.

10. Bowl & Pitcher – Riverside State Park (4427 N Aubrey L, White Pkwy, Spokane, WA)

This is my favorite place to hike in Spokane because you can make it as easy or as difficult as you would like. There are lots of paths and different trails you can follow to lead you around the park. Make sure you have a Discover Pass or pay the day entrance fee before parking. This is a very picturesque area and they even have campgrounds and designated cycling trails. If you are lucky, you will see some white water rafters braving the cold temperature and raging waters on the river.

11. Mount Spokane Peak (26107 N Mt Spokane Park Dr Mead, WA 99021)

In the Summertime, we like to head up to Mount Spokane to pick huckleberries. In the Winter, you can ski or snowshoe. The peak of Mt. Spokane, covered with heavy snow, is one of the most beautiful scenes you will ever witness. The entire park is 13,919 acres, located northeast of Spokane in the Selkirk Mountains. Take some pictures in/with nature or make it to the peak and grab some pictures in the Historic Vista House. Again, make sure you have a Discover Pass to enter the state park.

12. Deer Park Sunflower Fields

As with some other places on this list, the Deer Park Sunflower Fields are seasonal. The best time of year for pictures is early to mid August with the sunflowers at their peak. I have found that the best time of day for photos is late afternoon before sunset. When the sun starts to set, the sunflowers begin to close up for the night before they awake with the sun the next morning. Please be respectful when taking your photos and do not enter the fields. The flowers are someone’s livelihood and when you trample the fields the flowers die.
