HOW TO HOST THE PERFECT EVENT IN SPOKANE – SPOKANE EATS BABY SHOWER

HOW TO HOST THE PERFECT EVENT IN SPOKANE – SPOKANE EATS BABY SHOWER

Whether you’re planning a birthday, holiday party, graduation celebration or even… (my personal favorite at the moment) a BABY SHOWER, knowing some of Spokane’s finest vendors to contact will be a game changer. I was blown away by how magnificent the event for my little babe turned out and I couldn’t wait to brag about the talented people that made it all happen.

VENUE: TWIGS BISTRO & MARTINI BAR AT WANDERMERE

First things first, location location location…. choosing a venue is probably the most important decision because it sets the vibe for the entire event. I chose Twigs Bistro and Martini Bar’s Wandermere location because it boasts a large private event room with huge windows for lots of natural light and a great view of the back patio and water. We had around 30 people at my shower but there is room for PLENTY more (200 to be exact).

Bonus: our servers were incredible!!! They paid attention to every guest and were always coming in to make sure things were running smoothly. On top of that, they seemed genuinely happy to be there and insisted on helping us carry out all the gifts to the car after. Now, that is what I call going above and beyond.

Let’s be real, when getting an invite to a party, the first thing on my mind is always the food. Luckily for us, we were treated to a ridiculously good (and BIG) four course meal. It was so much more than just a meal. It was an experience. Twigs Bistro and Martini Bar recently launched some new menu items as a way to incorporate their new local, fresh focus. The chef brought out each course and introduced the dish along with his inspiration. Huge shout out to Chef David Lee for creating such a drool-worthy menu and making sure everything went perfectly!

Here’s the breakdown of what we ate:

1st Course: Tuna Poke Lettuce Wraps, Burrata Romesco, Curry Cauliflower. Each of these were light, fresh, and bursting with flavor! A must-have at your next trip to Twigs Bistro is definitely the Burrata Romesco. Burrata is pretty much always a yes but this is the best i’ve ever had! Also, my go-to app used to be the brussels sprouts but i’ve been fully converted to the curried cauliflower. Just do it.

2nd Course: Greek Goddess Salad and Halibut Fish Taco. Bright, beautiful and bold. I think i’ve also now converted from the orange chicken salad to this brand new salad. I love that they added quinoa so it really satisfies. Chef Dave let us know that these fish tacos have already been a huge hit from the new menu.

3rd Course: Mango Halibut, Grilled Coulotte, Crab Mac and Cheese. Bury me in this Mango Halibut please! The fish was so fresh, served over mixed veggies, topped with a mango avocado salsa and the most delicious cream sauce that I wanted to drink with a straw. Now, if i’m going to splurge, i’m going to make it worth-while and one of my favorite splurges is this Crab Mac and Cheese. Don’t ask about calories or fat, just commit and enjoy.

4th Course: Tipsy Cheesecake with 4 sauces: Scotch Salted Caramel, Huckleberry Lemon Drop, Bourbon-Maple, Gin-n-Tonic. I am certainly a sucker for dessert and let me tell you, Twigs Bistro knows how to serve cheesecake…with four powerful sauces and a huge slice to mop up every last drop. My favorite sauce of the bunch? Definitely the huckleberry lemon drop, such a fun twist on a Twigs classic!

FLORALS: ANTHESIS CO.

Where do I even begin with talking about these florals? Flowers can turn an ordinary party into a smashing event and Anthesis Florals delivered beyond my wildest expectations. I sent them my vision and they brought it to life! They also scattered their beauty throughout the room to add some extra special touches. I mean, can you even with the floral arch they made for the Peacock Chair?! It made for the most gorgeous photos and the entire room smelled like fresh florals.

This dynamic sister duo is professional and dripping with talent and we have absolutely loved working with them on multiple occasions. If you aren’t hosting a party but still want to enjoy their creations, you can order your holiday centerpieces, join their weekly or bi-weekly floral subscription, or attend one of their floral workshop classes!

DECOR: ARTIFACT RENTALS

The party truly wouldn’t have been the same without the furniture and decor rentals from Artifact Rentals. They have an entire warehouse full of inventory from tabletop decor, seating, signs and frames, vessels and vases, candle holders, backdrops and arbors, and so much more! Shop their site to add the extra (much needed) flair to your event to take it from good to great.

Artifact Rentals totally transformed the room into a dream with their special peacock chair, mirrored signage, goblets, vases and more. Artifact Rentals brought the table scape to life by bringing out glassware that matched the girly pink theme and also contrasted with an alternating amethyst colored glass. The main takeaway, if you’re hosting an event, you 100% need to add rentals from Artifact and you 100% NEED a peacock chair. I felt like a queen and it’s something attendees will always remember.

PARTY FAVORS: TERRA COTTA

Maybe it’s the Texan in me, but you should always send your guests home with a gift! Jenna from Terra Cotta ‘Beauty by Clay’ handcrafted a pair of earrings for each guest to take as a favor. And y’all, she matched them to the color scheme from our invitations! Like, come on!!! Jenna hand-makes these beautiful clay earrings perfect for any occasion.

Her motto is “when women feel beautiful, they do beautiful things” and we couldn’t agree more! Everyone gathered by the gift table for a long time trying to decide on their favorite pair to take home. It was truly an impossible decision! How do I get this whole collection in my jewelry box pronto? Check out our local entrepreneur highlight to learn more about Jenna and her blossoming business.

PHOTO BOOTH: FUNNY BOOTH

My new motto? It’s not a party without a photo booth! The Funny Booth team (husband & wife with such pure hearts) will set up the booth, let you choose your background, and even create custom graphics for your special event! Then, you get real-time text or email photo sharing so guests have photo keepsakes to always remember your special day! I plan on making a photo book full of all the photos that guests took during the party to share with baby someday! Their services are currently available in Spokane, Coeur d’Alene, and Pullman!

CUSTOM CAKE: THE FROSTY BLONDE

Make all of your custom cake dreams come true when you work with Christina at @thefrostyblonde. She spent over a year working on baking the perfect cake before she even began to tackle decorating and all of her time and effort is MUCH appreciated! And if you can believe it, they look just as amazing as they taste. All I have to say, three words: COOKIE BUTTER filling. Yes. She went there and i’m so glad she did.

There’s one rule when attending a party thrown by yours truly, come hungry and don’t say no to two dessert courses :). We also had local chef (& award winning baker), Ricky Webster make custom sugar cookies, decorated with white frosting and cute pink and metallic sprinkles that matched the party theme. Stay tuned for more on Ricky coming soon!

PHOTOGRAPHY: KATYA HIGGINS

Katya is one of my go-to photographers in town. I know that when I bring her on for an event or project, I don’t have to every worry about getting fantastic photos. She captured all of the details so perfectly and she always does it with a smile and relaxed attitude.

HAND-LETTERING: Handmade by Haley Marie

Adding custom personalization is the perfect way to ensure your guests feel special, so we turned to Haley Marie to add those extra special touches. She hand-lettered each person’s name for a place card and also created the most beautiful hand lettered mirrored sign in collaboration with Artifact Rentals. I’ve always believed that a first impression is a lasting impression so having the mirrored sign greet guests as they entered the room really set the event up for success!

Parties and events create a space to bring together friends and family and Spokane has so many local businesses that can upgrade whatever you are planning. I am so thankful to have these ladies (and gentleman, i’m looking at you Chef Dave & Chef Bentley) generously help me put together a shower for baby girl that blew everyone away. It was truly the most perfect afternoon that i’ll never forget! I can’t thank all of the vendors enough for being so willing to offer up their many talents to make it all so memorable. I love this community and the people that make it special so dearly!

Baby and mama felt oh so loved.

XOXO
