WHAT TO DO IN COEUR D’ALENE – WITH THE FOWLER GROUP

Have you ever enjoyed a beautiful sunny day on the waters of Lake Coeur d’Alene or spent a wonderful evening celebrating the annual Holiday Light Show? Most people would consider CDA a vacation destination, but have you considered calling it home?

Coeur d’Alene, Idaho is known for its year-round seasonal activities, family-friendly environment, and convenient location to all that Northern ID and Eastern WA have to offer. We thought it might be helpful to give you a personal perspective on what we like to do in Coeur d’Alene with our family. What To Do in Coeur d'Alene

Seasonal Activities

Coeur’d Alene has nationally recognized events including the Ironman Race, Food and Wine Festival, Art on the Green and 4th of July Festival (to name just a few). These events draw huge crowds from all over the world which exemplifies the diversity that make this a welcoming community.

In the summer months, the downtown hub is bustling with activity from the weekly farmer’s markets, live concerts in the park, lake activities and hiking. If you are more of a thrill seeker, take a short drive to the nearby Silverwood Theme Park.

The seasons may change, but the options are still aplenty. During the Winter, the downtown area is still bustling with activities like the Holiday Light Show where you take a cruise on Lake Coeur d’Alene and journey to the North Pole to meet Santa! For the adventure enthusiasts, take your pick from the local world-class ski resorts. No matter the time of year, Coeur d’Alene offers something for everyone, especially those who enjoy an active lifestyle.

Family Friendly Environment

Having a young family ourselves, a day spent in Coeur d’Alene keeps everyone busy. Whether you enjoy shopping at the local boutiques, discovering the wonderful coffee culture, enjoying the local playgrounds and beach access, or hiking Tubbs Hill – Coeur d’Alene has what you are looking for.

A day for us usually starts with coffee from one of our local favorites – for us it’s usually Evan’s Brothers or CDA Coffee Company, before heading to the beach or local park. After catching some summer rays or a brisk walk along the beach walk, we head downtown for a bite to eat at either Crafted Tap House or Honey’s Eatery. After lunch, we enjoy a car ride exploring the back country in and around Coeur d’Alene while our three littles take a nap.

We look forward to the day our kids are a bit older and we can enjoy family paddle boarding on the lake and skiing at the local resorts. We love that CDA offers a lifestyle that can grow with our growing family.

Side Note: One of the kids’ favorite activities is finding Mudgy Moose and Millie Mouse (5 bronze statues throughout downtown CDA). This “whimsical” scavenger hunt begins at Tubbs Hill Trailhead and ends at Independence Point. Pick up your copy of Mudgy + Millie by Susan Nipp at the downtown kid’s store Figpickels Toy Emporium to learn more of the hide-and-seek story that is unique to CDA.

Conveniently Located

If Coeur d’Alene is calling you, Spokane International Airport is only 45 minutes away. It maintains the ease of departures and arrivals of a smaller regional airport.

Right next door, Spokane is another major city offering many seasonal activities of its own including Hoopfest and Bloomsday along with big city shopping and all of the dining and arts you could hope for.

The numerous lakes, rivers and trailheads in the neighboring cities of Post Falls, Hayden, Sandpoint and Harrison are all nearby offering unique activities of their own.

Coeur d’Alene may be a household name for a wonderful vacation spot, but it offers so much more to those who get the opportunity to call it home. If it’s been your dream to own a home in CDA, we hope to be a part of making those dreams a reality!
