YOUR SMILE IS SAFE WITH SANDERS FAMILY DENTAL

One of the hardest things about moving to a new city is finding your “people”. Obviously that means your friends, but it also means your hair people, your nail people, your doctor people, and your dentist people. It often takes years to find the right fit, and I found that at Sanders Family Dental!

The team at Sanders Family Dental help explain everything they are doing and really take the time to educate you about your dental care. They even have a cool contraption that can take pictures of your teeth so they can show you exactly what they see. In my 26 years, I’ve never seen my teeth like I saw them at my cleaning appointment with Dr. Sanders.

The initial cleaning appointment was to decide if I was a good candidate for their teeth whitening treatment. Luckily, I passed the test! The next step was using a flouride toothpaste for two weeks prior to my whitening treatment.

I’m not going to lie, I was semi nervous when I showed up for my whitening because I had no idea what to expect, if it would hurt, if I would get results, and they told me I couldn’t eat or drink anything that would stain my teeth for TWO DAYS! If that news isn’t enough to scare you, then I don’t know what is.

If you’re wondering what stains your teeth here’s a short list:

  •  Coffee
  • Tea
  • Soda
  • Dark Juices
  • Soy Sauce
  • Balsamic Vinegar
  • Tomato Sauce
  • Popsicles
  • Blueberries
  • Beets

The easiest way to be sure you won’t mess up your whitening treatment is to not eat or drink anything that will stain a white shirt. Buh-bye mustard & ketchup. Now, back to the whitening…

They have a way of making their patients feel super comfortable and it wasn’t long before I felt more at ease. They started out by making sure my teeth were nice and clean then they made impressions for the clear retainers that go in the at-home bleaching tray they send you home with. This was a huge bonus to the treatment! This kit allows you to touch up throughout the year when you notice the treatment starts to fade or before a special event.

After your impressions, you start the isolation treatment. They typically do about four sessions (depending on where your teeth started and how white they want them) at 15 min increments. For the first two treatments I didn’t feel a thing! It was actually pretty relaxing to be forced to lay still and relax.

By about half way through the third treatment, I started to feel a little pain in some areas, but nothing unbearable. I’d recommend taking an ibuprofen before (something I didn’t do). We stopped at treatment three because she thought that was enough for me.

The whitening treatment at Sanders Family Dental costs $400 and you get a $50 rebate. The treatment lasts anywhere from nine months to a year depending on your diet and lifestyle.

I definitely noticed a whiter brighter smile immediately and it only improved after a couple of days! Huge thank you to Dr. Sanders and his team for giving me a little more confidence and cheers to being able to drink all the Diet Coke and eat all of the teeth staining condiments soon!
