1898 PUBLIC HOUSE – DINNER WITH A VIEW!

Looking for a beautiful restaurant to soak in a great view? Well, we’ve got the place for you! Earlier this month, we found ourselves enjoying 1898 Public House’s menu while overlooking the Kalispel Golf and Country Club.

1898 Public House offers plenty of big windows, so nobody gets a bad seat. Plus, Chef Kaba, their new head chef, does not disappoint on delivering a variety of unique dishes presented beautifully!

To start the night, we had their Wicked Shrimp, Crispy Pork Belly, Short Rib Egg Rolls and Burrata. The Wicked Shrimp had a little heat and was served over a piece of polenta that we could not stop picking at. The most fun was the Crispy Pork Belly as it came topped with pink cotton candy. Adorable!!

The Short Rib Egg Rolls were a table favorite…we were tempted to ask for some of the dipping sauce to-go. The burrata was drizzled with a rich strawberry conserve jelly on top of toasty crostini (pro tip: for a sweet twist, mix some in with the arugula salad, you won’t regret it).

We also tried the Mediterranean Chicken and Panko-Crusted Halibut as our main courses. 1898 Public House offers so many options to choose from on their menu and everything Chef Kaba creates is a masterpiece.

The Mediterranean Chicken was cooked to perfection and was complemented with a lemony yogurt sauce that we loved. The Panko-Crusted Halibut was another winner in our books because it packs a ton of great flavor. The crispy breading with the slightly spicy sauce compliments the white fish perfectly.

And last, but certainly not least, dessert time! The desserts we tried were seriously the icing on the cake 😉 We tried the Ooey Gooey Lemon Bar, Chocolate Molten Cake and Fresh Peach Crème Brulee (from the Chef’s Fresh Sheet). Chef Kaba serves arguably the best lemon curd you can get your hands on, which puts the Ooey Gooey Lemon Bar at the top of our list.

The Chocolate Molten Cake was also delicious and served with caramel sauce and ice cream. The crème brulee was gorgeous topped with pink cotton candy and served in a fresh peach! Every two weeks the Chef’s Fresh Sheet changes, so hurry over to 1898 Public House to try the fresh peach dessert before it’s too late.

Thanks for having us in Chef!
