LA MICHOACANA

LA MICHOACANA

I FINALLY FOUND AUTHENTIC MEXICAN FOOD IN SPOKANE! La Michoacana is a different caliber of Mexican cuisine. You can get a traditional Mexican taco or choose to be a little more adventurous with some cactus and tongue. I’m a fan of the tortilla soup, adobada tacos, and chicken fajita burrito. All tasted super fresh, lots of flavor in each dish (tortilla soup was kinda smokey and tacos limey), and they aren’t afraid to spice things up. They serve complimentary salsa and bean dip as appetizers and they also have a mini market offering various spices, drinks, and party supplies. Win-win-win.

I was so scatterbrained last week that I forgot my camera so these are all iPhone pictures, sorry. A lot of them are from my Instagram story so you can get the full experience, including videos. So, like I said, the food was authentic and flavorful and I will definitely be back. This is my new “go-to” Mexican in Spokane. BUT, the thing that really won me over was this little girl with a heart of gold.

Kids are so pure, and sweet, and kind and all they really want is for everyone to be happy. I hate that we lose this as we grow older. A girlfriend and I were enjoying our food at La Michoacana when her 3-4 year old daughter swallowed a piece of chip too big and was slightly choking but more-so just in a lot of pain and scared (we all know the feeling and I know I’m guilty of scarfing down some chips faster than I can chew). Anyway, she was HYSTERICAL, screaming and crying and coughing and let’s just say everyone in that restaurant was aware of our existence. Once she started to calm down, another little girl (who couldn’t have been older than 3 or 4) walked over with her mom (worker at the restaurant) and her mom explained that her daughter didn’t like seeing other kids cry and it made her really sad so she wanted to give her a chocolate pudding to make her happy again. Instantly all her pain and worries were washed away because of the kindness of a stranger. A little baby stranger. She really inspired me and made me so grateful to live in a world surrounded by such pure children. So today, a 3 year old made me want to be a better person, and I am so grateful to her for that lesson.

Keep eating, Spokane.
