SPOKANE INTERSTATE FAIR – Lettuce Turnip the Jam!

SPOKANE INTERSTATE FAIR – Lettuce Turnip the Jam!

Lettuce Turnip the Jam! When the Spokane Interstate Fair comes to town, there are no rules. You show up and you indulge. It’s once a year and my motto is: Go big or go home! This year, we have indulged in Turkey Legs, Elephant Ears, Teriyaki Chicken Noodles, and Cotton Candy.

September 7-15 from 10 a.m. – 10:30 p.m

September 16 from 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.

In addition to the traditional fair favorites like fried Twinkies and corn dogs, the culinary scene at the fair has been elevated to include Longhorn Barbecue, Philly Express, Island Noodles, and Mary Lou’s Huckleberry Ice Cream!

We come for the food, but we stay for the entertainment. The fair has exciting entertainment for all ages. They are featuring a special sea-lion exhibit where trained marine biologists teach about sea life during a couple scheduled shows per day. These aren’t “circus” sea lions. These sea lions only travel three times a year for educational purposes and they are given plenty of time to rest between shows. They are brought to the fair to educate and not just for entertainment.

Our favorite entertainment is always the baby pig races! These races happen every couple of hours and you get to see 3-4 races with the final race crowning the winner. These pigs are three months old and they are speedy fast! They shoot right out of the gate, jump over hurdles and race to the finish line. Of course, you can also enjoy your fair favorites such as the amusement park, livestock show, and special events happening nightly.

If you’re only going to ride one ride… I’d recommend the twirly swings (I’m not exactly sure what they’re officially called). It’s way more thrilling than you’d expect! Or, you can’t go wrong with a quick spin on the Ferris wheel. It’s the perfect photo opt!

Parking is available on our grounds at the Main Gate, South Gate, and Train Gate. Be sure to give yourself ample time for parking each evening as the lots get pretty full. Parking is $5.

“Home to both the Spokane Indians Baseball Team and the Spokane County Interstate Fair, the Fair & Expo Center is centrally located with nearby hotels and restaurants, easy off and on access from Interstate-90, making the Fair and Expo Center very convenient for exhibitors and attendees!”.
