We all know that Spokane is known for its incredible culinary scene in the PNW. But my favorite part of this job isn’t eating (did I just say that??). It’s meeting the people behind the food, behind these great places that make Spokane unique, and well, Spokane. A couple weeks ago, I had the opportunity to branch out and meet someone who makes a huge impact in Spokane in her own unique way. Spoiler: there was no. food. involved. Yes, I know, I’m just as shocked as y’all but hear me out.
Julie Farley is the owner, beauty, and brains behind The Makeup Studio, a local shop known for its affordable, high quality makeup products, special event, wedding, or ‘everyday’ makeup applications, and incredible makeup lessons. In a past life, Julie spent her time modeling in Europe and Paris before discovering her love for the cosmetic industry. She has over 20 years of experience, and has worked on celebrities and public figures like Carmen Electra, Jerry Stiller and Patrick Muldoon. In the Northwest region, Julie is known as one of the go-to makeup artists for weddings, special events, and even television and commercial shoots!
As if running her own local business was not enough, Julie also founded Project Beauty Share, a non-profit that provides women in need with cosmetics and feminine products. Project Beauty Share has recently gained national attention through YouTube makeup blogger “Thataylaa”, and is continuing to expand locally and within our region. Most new and gently used makeup products can be donated to Project Beauty Share (they clean them before redistributing), and are guaranteed to go to women in our community whose circumstances do not allow them to afford these products as a tool to help build confidence and well-being.
