CENTRAL FOOD

When I think of Central Food, I think of their high-quality bread and their gorgeous patio view. If it is a nice, sunny day in Spokane, Central Food is where I want to eat lunch. They have one of the best patio views in the city, nestled right along the Centennial Trail. You can count on quality food, quick service, and smiles all-around when you get lunch at central food. The best day to go to Central Food is Friday because that is when they sell their roasted garlic rosemary bread! You can also grab a loaf of their Country Bread for $5 any day of the week.

Central Food has four different menus: Breakfast, Brunch, Lunch, and Dinner. Unfortunately, I have only ever made it here for lunch, but I have heard wonderful things about their breakfast and dinner. Dinner is their nicest menu but they did a great job of creating a perfect lunch menu that has enough appeal to draw in a solid lunch crowd.

Three of the five people in our group ordered the Smoked Brisket Sandwich, so obviously that is a big hit. The Smoked Brisket Sandwich is made with smoked brisket, BBQ sauce, Central Food pickles, and whole grain mustard on a brioche bun. For a side dish, I always choose their sweet potato jo-jo’s or the roasted brussels sprouts. This time, we tried both.

The Korean Pork Sandwich, made with slow braised pork shoulder, turmeric onions, Sriracha mayo on country loaf is a hit for those who like their sandwich spicy. I have kind of jumped on the trendy turmeric obsession that has been going around the health world, so this was a fun dish to try. It is amazing how many health benefits one spice can offer. The sriracha makes for a nice kick with each bite. The Korean Pork Sandwich is served on their fresh country bread which is my favorite sandwich bread in town.

The PNW Lentil Bowl is great if you want a lighter lunch. It is a spinach salad mixed with a generous amount of golden beets, lentils, radish, cucumber, red onion, and sprinkled with a light red wine vinaigrette. This was so much better than a boring lunch salad. Their is nothing boring about the PNW Lentil Bowl.

I am also a big fan of their Chickpea Burger made with a Mediterranean chickpea patty, cilantro, butter lettuce, herb mayo on brioche bun. I can’t wait to come back for their cheese plate and dinner menu. Until then, I’ll dream about their fresh baked breads.
