5 INCREDIBLE FAMILY-FRIENDLY SPOKANE RESTAURANTS

Guest Post by: Mia St. Clair

As a mom of three, I know that dining out with little people in tow can sometimes (okay, most of the time) be difficult. The whining, waiting, messes, stink-eye from other diners … I get it! Luckily, Spokane has so much to offer when it comes to family-friendly restaurants, making it much more enjoyable to grab a bite out on the town with your kiddos! From menu items that are picky eater-approved, to outdoor play and fun, we’re sharing five Spokane restaurants that practically roll out the red carpet for tiny foodies!

Chaps Diner & Bakery

This local vintage bakery and cafe holds a special place in our hearts, as it was one of the first places that we visited when we moved to Spokane. I love the balance of an upscale restaurant with a casual feel and that’s exactly what it feels like when you’re dining in at Chaps. They offer fresh pastries, pancakes, salads, burgers, etc. and their staff are always so welcoming! Make sure to request a table outside, where you’ll find a sand box, toys, and playhouse waiting for your kiddos to play and explore! They do tend to be busy on weekends so I would recommend arriving early morning (before they open) or around 4/4:30pm (just before the dinner rush). During the summer months, you can also enjoy live music on Friday evenings.

Our littles’ favorites: Pecan Maple Scone, Pancakes, Northwest Burger

Our favorites: Apple Fritter, Biscuits and Gravy, Baked Macaroni and Chees

Twigs Bistro & Martini Bar

Great food, great prices, great atmosphere! Their menu includes classic favorites like burgers, salads, sandwiches, and pizza (they even have a gluten-free menu). Upon being seated, your kiddos will be given coloring sheets and crayons to doodle on while waiting for their food. We are always so impressed with the quality of food and service at Twigs (even during busy hours). You can visit during Happy Hour (3pm-6pm) for discounted food and drinks. And if you’re in the mood for a sweet treat, order the sticky cookie — you won’t regret it!

Our littles’ favorites: Just In Case-Adilla and Kids Mac & Cheese

Our favorites: Kalua Pork Tacos and BBQ Chicken Cobb Salad

Manito Tap House

Manito Tap House offers a casual, cool, and laid back environment so you can relax and let your kids be kids. The staff are always so kind and friendly and the quality of food never disappoints. Picky eaters? There is something for everyone at Manito Tap House! Their menu includes popular favorites like fresh burgers, tacos, salads, sandwiches, and more. And while your kids wait for their food, they can color on coloring sheets or play tic-tac-toe. They also provide high-chairs and cups with lids (all the things that make such a difference when dining out with littles). Manito Tap House is open for lunch and dinner and if you’re visiting during the Summer months, you can request a table outside (our favorite!).

Our littles’ favorites: Beef Sliders and Cheese Quesadilla

Our favorites: Manito Tap House Burger

Wisconsin Burger

Wisconsin Burger is not only the go-to spot for the best burgers in town, it’s also the place to bring the whole family! Their menu is packed with unique twists on classic burgers, delicious salads, sliders, sausages, and more! And their Washington Premium Angus beef is ground fresh every morning. When it comes to ordering for the kiddos, sliders are a fan favorite and are the perfect size for those tiny hands. Vegetarian or Vegan? No problem — their veggie bean burger and grilled cheese are both tasty options! While your kids wait for their burgers, they can play classic arcade games like Pac-Man and Mario Bros. while you catch a break. And if you’ve got a sweet tooth (we have lots of those in our family), make sure to ask about their delicious house made frozen custard, shakes, malts, and floats!

Our littles’ favorites: Sliders and Fries

Our favorites: Beloit Blue and Spooner

Tomato Street

This local Italian restaurant is the perfect family destination. Tomato Street has been serving guests for more than 20 years and prides itself on providing a fun and upbeat atmosphere while also exceeding their guests’ expectations of food quality, service, and value. Their large menu includes family favorites like pizza, pasta, salads, and sandwiches (ask about their gluten free options), and their staff are always so kind, attentive, and engaging. When it comes to entertainment, Tomato Street takes the cake! You can request a table outside and challenge your kids to a game of Corn-hole, or let them get their wiggles out in their enclosed patio. But don’t worry –  when the food arrives, everyone will come running back to the table!

Our littles’ favorites: Spaghetti with Meatballs and Garlic Bread

Our favorites: Chicken Fettuccini and Raspberry Poppy Salad
